Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)
EMDR therapy is a psychotherapy approach designed to help individuals alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories and experiences
The therapist guides the client to recall distressing memories while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation, which can include side-to-side eye movements, hand taps, or auditory tones. This bilateral stimulation is thought to facilitate the processing of traumatic memories, leading to their reintegration and resolution.
You’ll look at past events, current triggers and with the use of the method, rebuild different neurological pathways that changes the way the mind and the body are programmed to respond. The idea is to unblock the disturbing event in your memory, relieve distress, reframe negative beliefs, and reduce physical symptoms.
