FAQ
Where and how can psychotherapy be used?
Psychotherapy is a type of treatment that can help individuals experiencing a wide array of mental health conditions and emotional challenges. Psychotherapy can help not only alleviate symptoms, but also, certain types of psychotherapies, can help identify the psychological root causes of one’s condition so a person can function better and have enhanced emotional well-being and healing. Psychotherapy uses empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence, from the part of the therapist, to build a trusting relationship between the client and the therapist. This trusting and safe environment allows the client to dive into the conscious or unconscious issues that may be causing emotional, psychological or physiological symptoms or problematic behaviours.
Psychotherapy is a series of verbal and non-verbal techniques used to treat mental, emotional and some psychiatric disorders. In the case of psychiatric disorders, there might be a need for medication that will accompany the psychotherapy for a period of time, or as long as the psychiatrist that will issue the medication will see fit.
